| As Ahmed mentioned, it can be a hardware failure or a software problem. anyways, we can't pre-judge the situation here... there's still a chance that it's a software problem. Imo chan, use any recovery disk to boot your laptop - any bootable disk will do the job too - and see whether it boots or not. if it does then there's no need to replace anything, a clean copy of Windows will be enough to fix the problem; otherwise you may want to consider contacting your OEM and ask for a repair or whatsoever.
Hope this helps! | |

| forgot to tell that the boot order can be changed from the PC's BIOS. - Quote :

messing around with drive firmware can cause such a problem, also when it comes to a dead drive; copy protection software -usually they are installed without asking the user- are known to be in the top of the list! I'm not sure about being online during the next days! Ahmed your help will be appreciated good luck all | |

| I've once had a similar problem...only a certain type of DvD's worked on the drive but now everything works just fine I've only reinstalled windows, that's all...
but since it's not even booting " have you checked the boot device priority in the bios ? "
...will I give up | |
